Sharing pinPAD's

Roving PinPAD, many to few

A new feature added to the ACK product range allowing a single pinPAD to be shared between many tills or a single till being accessed by many pinPAD's. Great for use in applications where the transaction numbers are low but the sale value high or perhaps the reverse scenario in hospitality sites where a single till could support a number of pinPAD’s distributed around table waiting staff for example.

ACK has been acquired by AIM listed payment service provider DataCash Group PLC.

The acquisition enables DataCash to offer an end to end Card Present solution for the first time. The two companies have co-operated in the past to provide integrated Card Present solutions to a number of major High Street merchants. The combination of skills from both teams has provided innovative solutions for the merchants concerned.

The purchase will enable DataCash to further extend the scope of its outsourcing with UK and Republic of Ireland based retailers and will accelerate its move to provide a full service across many market sectors.

Andrew Dark, Chief Executive of DataCash, said: "We are excited by the opportunities that this acquisition creates. We intend to grow the service provision to the users and re-sellers who work with the ACK product suite providing a simple and cost effective mechanism to enable them to avoid the complication and expense of running payment services in house. Furthermore the combination of the ACK suite and DataCash service addresses the uncertainty of changes in the compliance rules that retailers continue to face and provides affordable scale on demand."

Chris Hyde, Sales Director of ACK, said: “We see this acquisition as being a very positive move for the business aspirations of both organisations. Respectively each company is strong in the relevant market but together this strength is amplified. Datacash is a substantial and well funded company with a range of services to compliment the reliability and reputation of the ACK products. We have already established a very good working relationship in the last two years on a number of projects so we jointly expect to get off to a flying start.

The development and support team here at ACK will remain intact as will the senior management team. Our role now will be to take ACK products through into the DataCash marketplace and bring their services back into the ACK market. It is here that we see additional opportunities for our integrators as well as more innovative ways of supplying the combination of both managed services and EPoS based EFT applications”.

A personal message from Martin Herbert, founder of ACK.

The acquisition of ACK by DataCash is a new beginning for all of us at ACK. We have built up a close, comfortable and trusting working relationship with DataCash over a number of years and have complete confidence in our future with them.

I am delighted that our close-knit team remains intact and that we can all look forward to the benefits of working within a significantly larger organisation, both personally and professionally.

Existing ACK clients have been able to enjoy the technological benefits of the ACK software and the DataCash managed service for some time and a growing number of exiting clients are migrating to the DataCash service with no detrimental impact to their EPOS system – indeed they are able to enjoy improved speed of authorisation and greatly improved reporting functions, along with additional data security.

What is new, is the ability to deliver this advanced technology from a single source within a single price plan that includes software and services. Furthermore, tier one and top-end tier two retailers will have confidence in dealing with an organisation that is capitalised at £300M and has an international presence. They will be able to ask for, and receive, service level agreements not traditionally available from ACK, including out of hours and extended hours support, thanks to the 24/7 support desk.

New technology, including data security techniques, estate and terminal management capabilities, will be available and promoted to existing and new clients as part of the on-going development programmes from both ACK and DataCash.

ACK are also able to introduce DataCash to markets which they have traditionally not embraced including: the hospitality sector (J D Wetherspoons, Greene King, etc.), the food sector (Morrisons, Budgens, Londis, etc.) and the fuel and convenience sector (Murco, Somerfield, etc.).

Finally, I should like to take this opportunity to personally thank all those who have expressed their sincere congratulations to me on the sale of ACK – I didn’t know so many of you cared!
