Sharing pinPAD's

Roving PinPAD, many to few

A new feature added to the ACK product range allowing a single pinPAD to be shared between many tills or a single till being accessed by many pinPAD's. Great for use in applications where the transaction numbers are low but the sale value high or perhaps the reverse scenario in hospitality sites where a single till could support a number of pinPAD’s distributed around table waiting staff for example.

ACK announce Chip and PIN support for embedded PCs running WinCE

Continuing its ground breaking and industry leading innovation ACK announce support for Chip & PIN on PCs running WinCE.

Building on the growing success of the UK’s first, managed service independent, generically accredited EFT software, ACKTerm, ACK have enabled this application to now run under WinCE, ACKTermCE. This solution retains all the functionality experienced on other Windows operating platforms and can be set up as a thin client linking to a back office ACK EFT Server or as fat client requiring no server.

Chris Hyde, Sales and Marketing Director for ACK said ‘We have seen a growing interest from the retail community in taking the payment experience to the customer. Whilst this is becoming accepted in the hospitality market, we are now being approached by retailers involved in high ticket value purchases, jewellery stores for example. Further applications are being presented in the form of ‘queue busting’, mobile sales teams and outdoor event organisers.

ACK are now working with industry leading hardware suppliers to ensure compatibility across a wide range of hardware platforms. Integral to ACKTermCE is support for the industry leading VeriFone (Dione) PIN pads alleviating the need for a separate EMV Level 2 component. ACK have taken care to ensure the software will run on minimum specification hardware - this has been achieved by keeping the code to a small memory footprint and have avoided the additional burden of .NET framework. Integration of ACKTermCE will prove to be a quick and easy task for developers enhancing EPoS applications for the mobile environment.

‘Our ACKTerm product has proved to be very popular with EPoS developers due to the speed of integration, now measured in days not months. When it comes to commercial aspects, our policy of clearly defined costs over the lifetime of the product ensures retailers can budget with a high degree of certainty’ added Chris Hyde.
