Sharing pinPAD's

Roving PinPAD, many to few

A new feature added to the ACK product range allowing a single pinPAD to be shared between many tills or a single till being accessed by many pinPAD's. Great for use in applications where the transaction numbers are low but the sale value high or perhaps the reverse scenario in hospitality sites where a single till could support a number of pinPAD’s distributed around table waiting staff for example.

ACKTerm proves integrated EFT can be quick and painless for the Musgrave Group

Building on the growing success of the UK’s first, managed service independent, generically accredited Chip & PIN EFT software, ACKTerm, ACK have been appointed by the Musgrave Group to upgrade the existing EFT solution in its Londis and Budgens stores. The work and time taken to integrate this upgrade were the deciding factors for the Musgrave Group selecting ACK. With its simple interface to the existing EPoS application, simple multi site configuration and flexibility for additional services ACKTerm proved to be an easy choice.

Chris Hyde, Sales and Marketing Director for ACK said ‘Our customers continue to see the benefits ACK can provide through its software in the acceptance of credit and debit cards. Our flexibility and responsiveness as an organisation along with an innovative product range give retailers a high level of confidence that they can rely on being able to trade and take payment with maximum reliability. The development of ACKTerm was started with two goals: firstly to provide a simple interface to ensure integration could be completed quickly, measured in days not weeks. Secondly, as far as is practical the costs involved throughout the lifetime of the solution are defined at the outset, in gaining Generic Accreditation, ACK are able to fulfil these goals’.

Traditionally, the integration of EFT software into an EPoS application places high demands on development resource and requires determination to eventually achieve accreditation with the card acquirers, all of which can take many months and cost many thousands. ACK have overcome all of these obstacles by producing ACKTerm. The Generic Accreditation ACK has achieved does not rely on a managed service: it allows the Musgrave Group to continue to use existing links to the card acquirers, but also allows them to adopt new data communication infrastructures, additional card schemes and provide ETopUp with minimal work and no need to re-accredit.

Tony Nelder, Londis Retail Systems Controller said ‘We have learnt many lessons about integrated EFT over the years and when embarking on this upgrade we were keen to ensure that we made gains from that experience. Our selection of ACK centred around their responsiveness and expertise in addition to the speed with which we were able to integrate ACKTerm. The time taken from selection to roll out has been extremely quick and painless; there have been no dramas along the way. We’ve been very pleased by the ‘team effort’ approach ACK have taken with us on this project’.
