Sharing pinPAD's

Roving PinPAD, many to few

A new feature added to the ACK product range allowing a single pinPAD to be shared between many tills or a single till being accessed by many pinPAD's. Great for use in applications where the transaction numbers are low but the sale value high or perhaps the reverse scenario in hospitality sites where a single till could support a number of pinPAD’s distributed around table waiting staff for example.

ACK announce IFSF / OPI XML message interface support for EFT

The IFSF (International Forecourt Standard Forum (www.ifsf.org) ) is a forum of the major international oil companies with the common objective of harmonisation of equipment interconnectivity and communication standards for use in the Petroleum Retail Business.

The IFSF has produced a set of international standards for forecourt automation including the standardisation of messages and protocols used in Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT).

Wincor Nixdorf are strong supporters of IFSF and have made significant contributions to the definition and adoption of these standards which have been derived from their own OPI Standards.

ACK are therefore pleased to announce support for the IFSF / OPI XML message formats for card payments on forecourts.

Martin Herbert, Managing Director of ACK said 'This product is part of a strategic development to enable ACK to further penetrate the fuel sector where ACK products are already widely used. By providing a standardised interface, ACK EFT products may be implemented immediately by EPOS providers who support the IFSF/OPI Standards. This approach effectively eliminates integration effort, although full system testing is highly recommended'.

The new interface is an extension of the established functions already present within the ACK software suite which are now exposed through a standard interface. The existing proprietary interface will still be supported for existing users.

The new interface has been a relatively simple development and is presented as a well known TCP/IP socket and consists of a socket server which front-ends the existing ACK EFT software suite.

Martin Herbert went on to say 'We believe that the IFSF/OPI standard can be applied to all areas of retail and are actively promoting this standard interface to our partners in other market sectors, such as: mobile/portable payments, kiosk/vending, self-check out and for use with 'dumb' ECRs.
